Breed Heritage Committee new addition
The Breed Heritage Committee is pleased to announce the addition of a new member, James Mattinson from Rosewain Farm, Wigton, Cumbria. James, alongside his wife Helene and their twin daughters, operates the farm with his twin brother Philip, and parents Frank and Margaret. They manage over 300 pedigree cows under the esteemed Troutbeck prefix at Bridge House, utilizing a state-of-the-art system. Their focus on breeding and management has led to significant advancements in production and health traits. Notably, the Mattinsons have bred one of the most prolific cows of recent times, Troutbeck Burdette Jess 3 EX96 8E LP100, SP, 4 Stars. This cow has produced renowned sires such as Troutbeck Progress and Troutbeck Daring, who are making substantial contributions to breeding across the UK.
The committee extends its gratitude to our retiring member, John Adamson, for his dedicated service and contributions over the past five years. The committee also congratulates John and his team at Swaites on their recent accomplishment of winning the Haresfoot Vase for Premier Breeder Exhibitor during 2024.
The Breed Heritage Committee evaluates many of the top Ayrshire females in the United Kingdom and provides breeding recommendations to enhance production, milk quality, fertility, and health traits for future generations.
