Ayrshire Judging Seminar Held at Glubhole Farm

A well-supported Ayrshire judging seminar was held at Glubhole Farm, Launceston, Cornwall, kindly hosted by Courtney and Matthew Walters and their family. The event brought together Ayrshire breeders, members and friends for a day of practical judging and discussion. The Society was also pleased to welcome two Cornwall Young Farmers members, offering them an introduction to the Ayrshire breed and the opportunity to develop their judging skills.

Those attending had the opportunity to judge and observe two strong classes of heifers and cows, providing an excellent platform for learning, comparison and discussion among breeders.

The top scores on the day were awarded to Arthur Walters in first place, Wendy Young in second place and Elizabeth Nattle in third place. Several other participants also achieved qualifying scores, reflecting the high standard of judging throughout the seminar.

Guests were treated to refreshments throughout the day, which were warmly appreciated by all in attendance. The occasion was made even more memorable as Courtney celebrated a special milestone birthday.

To mark the celebration, a beautifully decorated cake, made by Deborah Christophers, was presented to Courtney on behalf of the Society.

To conclude the day, visitors were invited to view the Lyner herd. The cows impressed those present with their superior type, outstanding udders and tremendous legs and feet, providing a fitting close to a successful and enjoyable seminar.

The Society expressed its thanks to Courtney and Matthew Walters and their family for hosting the event, and to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the day.
