2021 Ayrshire Cattle Society On Farm Challenge Supreme Champion
23rd April 2021
We have had a great feed back to our first ever On Farm Challenge Competition.
We would like to thank our judge Klas Johansson for agreeing to judge and for his very in depth reasons for his placings.
Today we announce our Supreme Champion and Klas has awarded it to the Aged cow Oakfield Gigi 7 EX95 4E owned by John Suffern in Northern Ireland.
She is By Stamford Henrik and her Dam is Oakfield Gigi 6 EX92 3E, She calved in Febuary with her 8th calf.
We congratulate the Suffern family and also Trevor Brown the breeder of Gigi 7 on this Championship
Klas's reasons are, I have in front of me five class winners that all show so much quality, strength and dairyness, perfectly attached udders and superb bone quality. As my champion I want to pick a cow with the best overall appearance and the best total performance, a cow that combines a perfect type with a long productive life: Oakfield Gigi 7 is my Champion. I want to thank the Ayrshire Cattle Society once again for giving me this opportunity, it is always a pleasure to look at cows and under the current circumstances I find this a good way of showing. We recently had a similar online show in Sweden and with our country being big and farmers interested in showing cows being few, there will probably be more of this in the future.
We hope you have enjoyed the competition and we would love your feed back, also a big thank you to the members who entered this first ever On Farm Challenge Competition we hope you enjoyed it.
We are looking at perhaps running this event again in the Autumn so during the summer months get snapping.
