2021 Ayrshire Cattle Society On Farm Challenge
22nd April 2021
Today we announce the results of our last Ayrshire class for 6 or more calvingsĀ of this On Farm Challenge competition. Congratulations to our winners.
1st prize is Oakfield Gigi 7 by Stamford Henrik owned by John Suffern
2nd prize is Sandyford Burdette Heather Honey by Palmyra Tri-Star Burdette owned by James & Sara Seedall
3rd prize is Whitecroft Ruth 134 by West Mossgiel Modern Reality owned by JD & BF Broadley & Sons
Klas's reasons are, The final Ayrshire class presents four fantastic cows having had six calves or more. They all represent what we are all looking for - strong, long-lasting cows. My winner today is Oakfield Gigi 7, a cow that really impresses me with her strength and dairyness, a perfectly attached udder, where especially the fore attachment and the ligament places her over my 2nd, Sandyford Burdette Heather Honey. She has a perfect bone quality and correctness of her legs but it is her tremendous body capacity that makes me place her over Whitecroft Ruth 134 in 3rd. This cow shows good udder attachments, she has perfect bone quality and even though she lacks some body depth she shows strength in her front.
