2021 Ayrshire Cattle Society On Farm Challenge

It is with great pleasure that we announce the results for the in milk heifer class in our on farm challenge competition.

Our Judge Klas Johannson had some great entries and today we start to reveal his final placings, Congratulations to our winners

1st prize goes to Heydale Ovoid 403 by Heydale Sugar Shack owned by M/S D W BERRESFORD & SON

2nd prize Heydale Shakespear Model by  Heydale Shakespear owned by M/S D W BERRESFORD & SON

3rd prize Whitecroft Ruth 170 by Cuthill Towers Buster owned by M/S J D & B F BROADLEY & SONS 

Below are the comments Klas has made on the results of the in milk heifer class.

As expected, the UK breeders have presented high quality animals in this On Farm Challenge. It has been a challenge for me too, with the difficulties it offers not to see the cows in a show ring.

First among the milking heifers I picked the beautifully balanced Heydale Ovoid 403. Her strong and deep, though youthful, body together with a superb rear udder made me choose her over my 2nd, Heydale Shakespeare Model. This heifer shows correctness in every corner and has perfect udder attachments. Her correct legs and bone quality places her over my 3rd, Whitecroft Ruth 170, a lovely young heifer with a superb udder and good strength in her front end.
