Agriscot 2020

This year has been extremely hard on agricultural shows because of Covid restrictions and many shows have come up with ways to keep their exhibitors and visitors invigorated.

Agriscot has done just that with an exceptional online event.  The Society had a very successful day in our virtual booth with many visitors and we thank the show organisers for putting on such an innovative event and supporting us with a great IT platform.

During the online show The Scottish Farmer announced their Winners for the Super Cow and Super Heifer of the decade competition and the Ayrshire Breed swept the board.

The Super Cow Champion was the outstanding Sandyford Clover 10 EX97 8E 4-star brood cow from E T Tomlinson & Son who was Agriscot Super Cow in 2013. Sadly Clover 10 passed away last year after producing 130,000 kgs of milk at 4.5%bf and 3.4% pro but her legacy lives on through her many family members.

The Super Heifer Champion was Bruchag Talent Evelyn EX93 2E owned in partnership by her breeder James McAlister and the Lawrie Family of Brieryside Ayrshires and who was Agriscot Super Heifer in 2015. Bruchag Talent Evelyn went back the following year and was Champion Ayrshire. Evelyn has been extremely productive in the parlour also averaging over 11,000 kgs of milk at 4.8% bf and 3.7% pro in 5 lactations.
