Northern Ireland Calf Show Results 2015

24th September 2015

Ayrshire breeder Michael Broadley officiated as judge at the 13th annual multi-breed dairy calf show, held at Moira. Mr Broadley farms 11,000 feet above sea level in the Peak District, making his 200-cow Whitecroft prefix the highest herd in the UK.  “It has been a very pleasing show, with some stylish calves and talented handlers,” he said.

Catching Michael Broadley’s eye to secure the supreme championship award sponsored by Thompsons, was Ardmore Orphan 117 from John and Michael Hunter’s 200-cow herd at Crumlin.  Sired by Nexus Dreamer, she is out of the home-bred Ardmore Orphan 95  - exhibitor-bred interbreed champion at the Winter Fair in 2011, and Balmoral Show champion in 2013.  Ardmore Orphan 117 was just six-months-old when she won the championship at last year’s calf show, and went on to secure the reserve championship at the All Britain All Breeds Calf Show in Malvern. “The champion is an outstanding young heifer. She oozes style, balance, dairy character, and is really beautiful on parade. She just owned the ring,” added the judge.  For more details on the show CLICK HERE
