DISPERSAL SALE OF THE  BAILIFFISCOURT HERD

for the Dowager Marchioness of Normanby, Mulgrave Estate, Lyth, North Yorkshire

As far as well managed herds go the Bailiffiscourt pedigree Ayrshire herd ranks with the very best winning the overall Production & Inspection in the Milk Records Competition nine out of the last ten years.  This herd ticks all the boxes on production, health, fertility and genetics. Selling are 6 Excellent, 8 Very Good and 16 Good Plus cows selling as well as 3 Very Good milking heifers.  This is a young herd.  There are 22 Heifers in milk, 22 second lactation cows, 13 third lactation cows and 13 having had four or more. There have been 17 freshly calved cows and heifers in 2017 with 10 freshly calved in April.  37 cows will calve in the summer period.   Following the milking herd will be 35 in-calf heifers due to calve July-August to Stamford Normas Diamond. There are 11 strong bulling heifers from 20 months old to 12 months old and 22 heifer calves under a year old. The milking herd are sired by Haresfoot Khan, Stamford Missing Link, Castern Tornado, Bailiffscourt Triple Fortune & Stamford Chocolate Nugget.  The youngstock are sired by Heydale Windjammer, Twemlow Admiral Glen & Ardmore Crown Napier.  One of the standout cow families has to be the Hortense cow family as well as the Fortune and Moonbeam lines

Herd Health - All of the animals in the Bailiffscourt herd have been tested clear of BVD and received their booster vaccination at the end of February 2017.  The herd is in a TB four year testing area and there has never been TB within the herd.

DISPERSAL SALE OF THE  BRUCHAG HERD

for Mr J McAlister, Bruchag Farm, Isle of Bute

This is one of the oldest Pedigree Ayrshire herds in the world dating back to the 1800’s.The McAlister family have won national Ayrshire shows in the past three centuries the latest with Bruchag Talent Evelyn at Agriscot in 2015. There are 20 heifers in milk, 15 cows in their second, 14 cows in their third, 9 fourth calvers and 9 having had five or more calves.  24 are freshly calved since January 2017 with 12 freshly calved in April.  There are 26 summer calvers in this sale.   As an addition to the 26 summer calving cows there are 14 in-calf heifers due shortly as well.  The young stock comprise of 12 strong bulling heifers and 35 heifer calves from twelve months and younger.  The herd is currently averaging 6800kg 4.04% 3.23%. The top cow families are the Marjorie, Evelyn, Melody, Julia, Madge, Caroline, Moss Rose and Bloomer.  The mature milking cows are sired by Haresfoot Elegant, West Mossgiel Class Talent, Ardmore Crown Napier, Bankend Bomber, Stamford Triple Threat and Bankend Sailor.  The milking heifers are crackers and are sired by West Spittal Regiment Red, Bruchag Memorial, Haresfoot Simply Perfek, Palmyra Tri-Star Burdette and Holmland Saturn Red. Numerous show cattle sell including animals that have the potential to win at National level.

Herd Health - The herd is officially BVD tested clear and TB free.  The Isle of Bute has a long history of having an excellent health status in its cattle herds.
