Exciting News Just In From This Year's Annual Conference

The Ayrshire Cattle Society's Conference & AGM was held in the county of Derbyshire, and the Society would like to welcome Mr Gilmour Lawrie, Sandyford Farm, Monkton as the new President for the forthcoming year. Mr Philip Williams from Pembrokeshire was elected as Vice President, with Mr Keith Davidson, Haugh of Urr, Castle Douglas as Junior Vice President.
The Conference sale was held in the Breadsall Priory Hotel on the second night of the Conference. This year's top seller was a three week old calf called Sandyford Crown Clover at £4900, and her new owners are Linda and Howard Batty, Willowfields Ayrshires. She is sired by UK sire Ardmore Crown Napier and is out of the outstanding Sandyford Clover 10 EX 97 6E LP100. Richard and Tracey Martin, Golden Ayrshires, Devon paid the second top price of £3000 for the pick of any animal from the Bigginvale herd owned by past President Robert Adams.
This year's embyro packages sold very well with Tom and Sue Crawford, Longwood Ayrshires purchasing the joint top priced package out of Pam Ayrs Right On Rosie EX94 sired by Hunnington Mandella for £400 each, and Klaus Johansson from Sweden paid the same price for the embryos out of the famous Whitecroft Nellie 38 EX 94 and sired by a bull of their choice.
Averages were: Live animals £3950, Embryos £387.
