Rosehill Dispersal tops at 4000gns!
The Dispersal Sale of the Rosehill herd of 230 Pedigree Ayrshires on behalf of Messrs WRC & JE Christophers of Truro saw a large crowd travel far and wide with buyers from Wales, Derbyshire, Scotland, Shropshire and across the Westcountry.
Top of the day was the much admired “Rosehill Hawaiian Pamela VG87” a Pam Ayrs Hawaiian daughter bred from the Pamela family purchased from the Haresfoot Dispersal, she sold in a partnership between Jake Sayer & Ben Broadley.
The next best milker was “Rosehill Pickle Phlache” a fresh third calver by Rosehill Mr Pickle, she sold at 2,600gns to Messrs Astley for their Sunshine herd in Powys. The same buyers also paid 2,300gns for another fresh second calver “Rosehill Very Mega Jiggy VG86” by Rosehill Megastar.
Granddaughter Meg sold her own “Megarose Hawaiian Sapphire VG86”, an August calved heifer by Pam Ayrs Hawaiian which had been successfully shown already. She sold at 2,300gns to James Warren & Family.
Dry Cows topped at 3,500gns for the much-admired Show cow “Rosehill Pink Indianna VG88”, this Rosehill Pink Floyd daughter was Champion at Royal Cornwall this year and is due in January to Astorwell, she sold to Rob Higgins of Shropshire. Close behind was “Rosehill Panache Whiskey VG88” a second calver by Haresfoot Panache who was heifer Champion at Royal Cornwall in 2023 and reserve Breed Champion this year. She sold to Nicola Bottom and Family of Truro at 3,200gns.
In Calf Heifers topped at 3,800gns for “Rosehill Fantasy Magenta” by Hunnington Fantasy, she sold due in April to Ravenhill Revolver to Julian Walters of Okehampton. At 1900gns was a shrewd purchase for Phil & Stuart Williams for their Willhome herd in Pembrokeshire, “Rosehill Fantasy Verylight” is a daughter of Hunnington Fantasy sold due in April to Revolver. The same buyer also paid 2,100gns for “Rosehill Tokyo G Primrose” a daughter of the stunning Harrys Gold Primrose EX95 cow which had sold earlier in the dispersal.
Heifer calves sold very well and topped at 2,500gns for David’s show calf “Trerose Daring Babycham” sired byu Troutbeck Daring out of three Excellent dams, she sold to Sophia Warren who had succefully shown her as a calf for David. Many other calves sold between 500-800gns.
The herd was a real credit to the Christophers Family and the following averages were achieved.
